Stores in Austria

Billa is one of Austria’s largest supermarket chains, with around 1,100 stores across all nine federal states. Short trips in the neighborhood, fresh food and a broad everyday range make the weekly shop simple and predictable.
Billa Plus are the larger stores in the group, with around 150 locations, mainly in cities and shopping centers. More choice in fresh food, private labels and specialties makes the big weekly shop easier in one place.
SPAR covers Austria widely, including smaller towns, with around 1,000 stores from Vorarlberg to Burgenland. Regional products and a reliable basics range support everyday shopping close to home.
EUROSPAR sits between a classic supermarket and a hypermarket, with around 250 stores in every federal state. The wider range covers fresh food, household goods and weekly needs, and often saves a trip to a larger store.
INTERSPAR are large hypermarkets with a broad range, often in cities and retail parks, around 70 locations. Food, non-food and fresh under one roof make bulk shopping efficient and easy to plan.
Hofer is a discounter present in all nine federal states, from rural areas to cities, with around 540 stores. Clear prices, rotating weekly highlights and a compact range help keep everyday shopping cheap and clear.
Lidl runs around 250 stores across Austria, from Burgenland to Vorarlberg. A focused range, strong private labels and regular promo weeks keep shopping lean, price-aware and practical.
Penny is in every federal state, with a dense network especially in eastern Austria and around 320 stores. As a discounter with clear prices and rotating offers, Penny suits a quick, affordable everyday shop.
Varied recipe categories
Every recipe is sorted by category, from vegan to pasta to low carb. That way you find exactly what you feel like eating.
Meat dishes deliver quality protein, iron and vitamin B12. That supports muscle, blood formation and energy metabolism. Zinc and other B vitamins also help keep your immune system and nerves steady day to day.
Fish brings omega-3s, iodine and easily digested protein. Good for heart, brain and thyroid. Vitamin D and selenium add to the benefit and help keep inflammation and metabolism in balance.
Vegetarian dishes lean on vegetables, legumes and dairy. They deliver fiber, folate, calcium and many vitamins. You stay full, support digestion and bones, and skip the meat.
Vegan dishes skip animal products and often bring plenty of fiber, vitamin C, folate and plant compounds. That eases digestion and circulation and adds variety with legumes, vegetables and whole grains.
Pasta delivers quick carbs for everyday energy. With vegetables, legumes or protein the plate becomes filling and brings fiber, B vitamins and minerals for metabolism and lasting energy.
Seasonal fruit and vegetables reach the plate riper and often bring more flavor, vitamin C, folate and antioxidants. Over the year you get real variety that supports immunity, digestion and nutrient intake naturally.
Low carb keeps carbs lower so blood sugar stays steadier. Energy comes more from protein and fat. That can curb cravings and support focus and longer fullness without constant energy spikes.
High-protein dishes keep you full longer and support muscle, especially on active days. Protein supplies amino acids for recovery, keeps metabolism active and helps avoid hunger between meals.
Traditional dishes lean on proven combinations. Meat, vegetables and sides deliver protein, iron and fiber in a familiar form. The plate is filling and everyday nutrition stays simple.
Organic dishes use ingredients from controlled farming with clear rules on fertilizer and pesticides. You often get more variety and less processed food on the plate. That supports conscious choices and nutrient-rich cooking.
